My lawyer told me to stop talking to the adjuster and I'm nervous about it

Post by mahlibeardman »

So I finally did it after months of back and forth and hired someone to help with my case. I've been dealing with a shoulder injury for over a year now, had one surgery and might need another, and the insurance company has been giving me the runaround the whole time. My new lawyer told me something that made me really uncomfortable though. He said I need to stop taking calls from the adjuster and direct all communication through his office instead. I've been talking to this adjuster regularly for months now, she knows my whole story, and now I'm just supposed to ignore her calls? Part of me gets it because I've definitely said things that maybe I shouldn't have when I was frustrated, but another part of me is scared that if I stop answering, she's going to think I'm being difficult and it'll make things worse. I found an on the job injury lawyer Rosendale NY and he seems to know what he's doing, but this just feels weird to me. For those of you who've had a lawyer, did you actually stop talking to the insurance company completely? Did it feel strange at first? I guess I just need some reassurance that this is normal and that I'm not going to mess up my case by suddenly going silent on the person who's been handling my claim. Any advice would be appreciated because I'm sitting here watching my phone ring and I don't know if I should pick up or let it go to voicemail.
